This grant is ideal for felons who are working, yet they have a low income, and find that they have an additional expense that pops up. Most people at some time experience a surprise expense that comes up, such as a bill or repair that is needed. Without an increase in one’s income, it can make it challenging to pay that unexpected bill or expense. The self sufficiency grants are ideal for helping in these situations.

About Self Sufficiency Grants for Felons

The self sufficiency grants that felons can apply for are made possible through an organization called Modest Needs. Their mission is to focus on helping to make positive change through small acts. They assist individuals and families who have jobs, but find that they need additional funds for something.

There are two main types of self sufficiency grants that felons can apply for through Modest Needs. The first one is to get help with unexpected or emergency expenses when there is no way that you would be able to come up with the money to pay for it. This is for people who are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and have no spare cash to meet the challenge of unexpected or emergency expenses.

The second type of self sufficiency grant that felons can apply for is to get help with monthly bills that they are having difficulty paying. To qualify for this, you have to have experienced some difficulty over the last year. For example, you had an illness or accident that caused you to fall behind in your expenses or you had to pay for a deductible on your insurance.
