If approved, you will receive a debit-style card that will be used to pay for your groceries each month. Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) – This program will provide financial help for pregnant ex-felons. Those who are approved for the program will receive cash assistance each month that can be used on a wide variety of living expenses, including pay for food, clothing, diapers, transportation, etc. To qualify, you have to have a low income and be a citizen or legal non-citizen. The amount you receive each month is determined by how many dependents are in the home. Most states limit how long you can receive help from this program to five years. Medicaid – This program will help with providing medical care for pregnant ex-felons. Those who are approved for the program will be able to get help with paying to see the doctor, stay in the hospital, see medical specialists, obtain prescription drugs, and more. Their programs help provide people with free food, clothing, shelter, and more. Although they are faith-based you do not have to be religious to get help through their charity. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) – This organization is funded by the federal government. They offer several programs, with one of them being helping people find affordable housing options. They can offer help for pregnant ex-felons, by locating affordable housing, helping to pay your rent or mortgage, and by helping to pay for necessary home repairs.
